On February 9, 2012, our oldest son, Mitchell, graduated from his Basic Military Qualification (basic training) course at CFLRS in Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu, PQ.  He worked very hard to get to that day, and he made his mother cry when he stepped out onto the parade square with his platoon.

Our beautiful boy is the architect of his success at BMQ, and it belongs to him alone.

He has grown from the tiny spring-born baby boy who made me a mom, into a striking man – standing tall, knowing that he can do anything he sets his mind to do.  It was my proudest moment as a mom, hard though it was, and I am grateful to the family members who travelled to helped us celebrate.  I’m pretty sure that at 14, we were the largest crowd there for a single soldier.  I’m sure those around us were having a chuckle as we watched the slideshow before the ceremony with all the grads pictures on it.  We would yell every time his picture came up and though embarrassing after the first two, it was funny!

His Dad & Uncle Jeff had the pleasure of handing him his first post-BMQ beer and toasting.

We had a blast during our trip where we got to meet some of Mitchell’s buddies and the brand new (2 week old!) baby of one of his coursemates.

We are so proud of you Mitchell – congrats! You worked hard and did it! Onward & upward!
